Joel Mercier, a native of NH, received his degree in Music Theatre from the Hartt School of Music. He then moved to New York City and pursued a career as a union actor & musician. While in NY, Joel's love for all aspects of musical theatre led him down many different paths, working professionally as an actor, singer, vocal coach, pianist, music director, composer, & copyist of sheet music. Joel has worked all over the country at summer stocks, regional theatres, and even a national tour covering a dozen different states. He has worked at numerous nationally recognized theatres including the Center for the Arts in PA,
the Goodspeed Opera House in CT, the Northern Stage in VT, and both the Westbeth (Off- Broadway) and the Nokia Theatre Times Square in NYC. As a composer, A CHRISTMAS CAROL marks Joel's first full length musical, however, Joel has composed numerous commissioned pieces, arrangements, and wrote all the music for "The Magic of Fairytales," a series of Children's Fairytale adaptations. Joel is currently the Artistic Associate / Resident Music Director at the New London Barn Playhouse.
